Charitable Contributions
Changing lives is a way of life here at TradeWinds. These little miracles
occur with the help of our community supporters, and friends in the community.
Without their charitable support the quality of our services would falter,
allowing the children and adults whom we serve to fall through the cracks.
If you are interested in making a gift to TradeWinds there are many ways that
this can be done:
- Annual Sponsorship Opportunities – These donations can be made at any
time of the year for any occasion. Charitable gifts can be made in monetary donations,
gifts of stock, or other ways of giving.
- Bequests – This gift will allow you to fulfill your
charitable wishes. Allow your memory to shine through generations of hope.
- Support one of our Fundraising Events – the Blacktie Gala,
Golf Scramble for Kids.
- Endowment Fund – TradeWinds Endowment fund started
in 2002 and has grown substantially since its inception thanks to the help of a
matching program from a benevolent donor. This fund makes certain that we are able
to provide needed services for children and adults with special needs in Northwest
Indiana indefinitely. All funds raised are eligible for a 5% match on an annual
basis.
- Pirate Organizations – Join the Pirates, and become
part of the ongoing legend that for over thirty-four years has championed for the
children of TradeWinds.
Last year we were fortunate to have an opportunity to build our Endowment Fund
through a donor who offered to match contributions 2 for 1 up to $150,000.
Incredibly, this donor has again offered a 2 for 1 matching opportunity, this
year with a maximum of $200,000. Income generated by this fund will be used to
provide services to children and adults with disabilities who may not otherwise
receive them due to growing funding shortfalls. Hopefully with opportunities
such as this 2 for 1 match, we can grow the fund to an amount that will assure,
in the future, that no child or adult will go without services needed to insure
their growth and well being.
Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)
Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority
The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) offers $2.5 million in tax credits annually

for neighborhood-based programs and projects in economically disadvantaged areas.

subtracted from the donors state income tax liability. In general, eligible activities

Affiliations
TradeWinds has many organizations to thank for its continued success. That is why
each year TradeWinds tries hard to recognize these organizations for their continued
devotion and support.
Board of Directors
From its creation, TradeWinds has been
blessed with an outstanding team of community leaders representing its Board of
Directors. TradeWinds could not have been as successful in impacting the lives of
so many individuals and families if it weren’t for the dedication and commitment
of our board.
Thank you to the all the past and present presidents and members who
have made the mission and goal of TradeWinds real.

Pirates
Well over 30 years ago, 46 gentlemen joined together and called themselves the PIRATES.
Banding together and combining their resources from: equipment, labor, materials
and operating capital, they built a new agency. This new agency was christened TradeWinds
Rehabilitation Center, Inc. and was built to provide a place for children with disabilities
to receive services. The agency built by volunteers from labor and business and
civic groups grew right along with it, determined that all children deserved a chance
to succeed.
For over 30 years, the Pirates have been benefactors of TradeWinds Children's Services,
providing generous donations every year for the benefit of the children of TradeWinds.
The Pirates ensure that every child receives the professional care that they need.
Thank You, Pirates!
