Employment Services Employment. More than just a word, it is a way of life here at TradeWinds. Trained professionals help each individual one-on-one with his or her individual needs. This “consumer driven” concept allows each individual to work at his or her pace, making the transition to employment a hard-won reality.

Services Provided:

Provide quality services to individuals seeking community employment
Job Readiness Training
Job Placement
Child Care/GED Classes
Linkage to Community Resources
Placed over 120 people during the last fiscal year
Individual Choice; persons served decide which aspects of the program will best prepare them for employment
Assistance in developing job contacts
Team approach instruction for Daily Living and Job Readiness Skills
Focus on workplace etiquette and workplace issues; punctuality, accountability, customer satisfaction, conflict resolution, and appropriate appearance
Recreational Services: Focus on Community Access and Interaction
Three Locations: East Chicago, Gary, and Crown Point, serving South County

We have been very successful with Individualized Job Placement, and have placed people in a variety of positions:

Average Annual Statistics

45% obtained full-time employment
55% obtained part-time (generally by consumer choice)
54% obtained employment with wages at $6.00 and above
22% obtained employment with wages at $7.00 and above
55% obtained medical benefits with employers average time between referral and placement is 11 weeks.
Average time between referral and job placement is 12 weeks
